2013 First Quarter in Review

It's interesting that life can go so quickly by, and you really can't recall what happened yesterday, let alone a  few weeks back. The new year has been filled with so many things, but because I procrastinate writing, I can only recall a few (which readers probably appreciate, eh?)

December 31st found me headed for Oregon once again as I'd promised Jacob that I'd be there when he went through the temple. It was a wonderful to be there with him and his parents. I had another small world experience as he was interviewed by President Jay Nelson of the Temple presidency. Jay had been my children's orthodontist and a friend from early Salem days. I was also able to attend and be of some help as JaneAnne and David hosted their annual Epiphany Day feast. It's always so fun to be with my children and their children as experience life.

Dear friends continue to love and support one another. This was our last luncheon celebration with Jean prior to her departure for her mission to Texas.

In February, Jacob came to Utah to enter the MTC and we have a picture-at-home-sendoff. John came down with Jacob so had a couple of days with him and then as he left, Alisa arrived from Los Angeles to spend a couple of days. I always love to have family come from out of town because it gathers the local ones together, too, for fun and games.

The month also include a get away trip with the Pincocks down to St. George. We had a relaxing time as we enjoyed a lunch with the other Senior couples from Armenia, a session at the St. George Temple, a movie "Impossible", and the Home Show, plus some great visiting time. Thanks to Doris for providing bed and breakfast while I was there. It was nice to experience the warmth of St. George after cold and chilly Provo.

A Sunday dinner with Artur, Alina and the kids is always wonderful and so great to have some of her good Armenian cooking.
I enjoyed another great dinner with Reynold and Diane Brown just prior to their departing for their mission to Sweden. I was even more delighted to find that they included Hope and Oz Hyde, our long-time and also long-ago (like 1966) friends from Portland. It's another one of those "small world" experiences. The Browns and the Hydes had become acquainted on an Alaskan cruise in 2012 and discovered the tie between them and me. I'm excited that the Hydes are moving to Utah County soon.

March 1st found me going to Los Angeles (along with all my daughters and in-law daughters) for a weekend girls getaway to watch Alisa perform and just to be together.

I was so sad that Julie became sick and wasn't able to join us. The consensus was that we would have to do it again soon, and make sure she's healthy the next time. We had such fun as we visited the LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art)and the Getty Museum, watched Alisa perform  in the Prospector on Friday, and the Magical Flute Sing Along and the Sing Along of Great Opera Choruses on Saturday. We ate some good food, played a few games, soaked in the hot tub (more like a smallish swimming pool), and it was wonderful.

Jana, JaneAnne, Alisa, Sue, Tamsen, Patti...our final lunch together
Sunday, I drove with Tamsen back to Arizona for a couple of weeks. It was so fun to be with their family and the kids even survived the time when their parents departed to do a Trek with their Stake for about 3-1/2 days. Like I have said many times...I love being with my family.

Life is wonderful! So hope I can continue living it to the fullest.
