The Warm and Cold of it, January and February 2025

It was nice to be back home after a bit of time in Arizona and Oregon. It was great to walk with Shirley and Maxine again, and a Christmas present (hand warmers) made my hands feel less chilly. I enjoyed time with church friends, too!

Lunch at Rumbi's Grill was a fun outing...wearing

I found a friend, Kay Madsen, whom I hadn't seen
for about 30 years. I first met her and her husband,
Frank, in 1961 in Washington, D.C.

The first of February, I made a trip to Gulf Stream, Florida along with my sister, Kathi and her husband, John to visit our younger sister, Julie and her husband, Jeff. It was quite a bit warmer than cold Utah and Julie is a great hostess.  We enjoyed time walking along the beach and in their neighborhood, a couple of meals out and many delicious ones at their home. We went to Wakodahatchee Wetlands and saw lots of Wood Storks and Iguanas, an alligator and plenty of beautiful nature.

After some warm days in Florida, I once again was on the plane now headed to New York City which ended up being a lot colder and we even had snow. My grandson, Leif, was both accompanying and singing with his St. Olaf's Choir at Carnegie Hall...and I didn't want to miss it. While we were there, we took advantage of several restaurants for good meals, made a visit to Central Park, as well as a visit to Ander's office which is located near Grand Zero (which we also visited). We had a hotel that was near a lot of our activities so we did a lot of walking. We watched a couple of plays, "Death Becomes Her" and "Maybe a Happy Ending". It was a wonderful long weekend.

It was a wonderful trip and so fun to be with family. I'm so grateful for the opportunities I've been given to enjoy such experiences. Doing things with those you love makes it all the more special.

Peterson Family Band Reprise, Thanksgiving and Christmas 2024

The last few months of the year were up to normal...busy, busy! Rob was celebrating his 50th Birthday. To commemorate the occasion, the Peterson Family band (all of the Petersons who were able to come) gathered to perform Rob's set list of 15 songs mostly from the 80's. To the basics of piano, keyboard, drums, bass, acoustic and electric guitars, were added percussion (vibra slap, cowbell), violin, and banjo. There were lots of soloists and backup vocals that added to the music. So fun to participate and hear and see it all. In between rehearsals, we managed for a few of us to get pedicures and go to a football game. We also celebrated Thanksgiving with so much good food (maybe not all good for us, however) and family thankfulness to just be together.

What a wonderful day!
I next headed back to Utah for a few events and the middle of the December found me winging my way to Oregon for a bunch of concerts and Christmas. Music and family is a great combination.

Dinner with the JD Petersons before the "cookie run"

We delivered cookies and did some Christmas carol singing

I spent the next week with the Peterson-Olsens and enjoyed a lovely Christmas Eve Dinner with the whole family (didn't take any pictures, however). We sang all the Christmas Carols in the Hymnal, so a lot! We found time to play some games and made a trip to Pittock Mansion to see the Christmas Decorations. It's a lovely, old home with a fantastic view of the Portland Skyline.

It seems that kids (no matter how old) like to

It was amazing to me how much doing could be packed into about a five week period of time. Like I've always said, family connections are priceless and whenever there's an opportunity to gather and celebrate together, do it! I'm sending wishes for a wonderful New Year to all of you! I cherish my connections with each of you, my friends and my family!
